In response to a note about the widening gap between the Palestinians and the Israelis because of current events, which means that the proposal of establishing one state is unrealistic, the Israeli analyst stressed that the situation in reality is different.
He added that between the «Eastern Jews and Palestinian Arabs there are closer ties than those between them and the Jews of European origin».
He added «if the Eastern Jews (Safardim) wanted to bomb a place in somewhere it would be in Tel Aviv and not an Arab target».
He stressed that in Israel there are a million Russians living in semi-independence from their surroundings, including a good percentage of Orthodox Christians, pointing out that communication between these Russians, especially the Christians, and the Palestinians may be deeper than communicating with Israeli Jews of European origin.
He explained that the Israeli society is fragmented groups, which means that the dismantling of this state is possible.
Shamir said that 30% of the Jews, and 30% of the Arab Palestinians, expressed support for the idea of one state, however, the media omitted this report «it had been treated like a taboo that should not be talked about».
He did not rule out that Israel would continue to be existed for hundreds of years in spite of their internal contradictions if it continued receiving U.S. financial aid.
He pointed out that the British and the American Zionists are more stringent than those who live in Israel.
The political analyst continued:
«if the two-state solution is the only way to break the impasse, why it has not been achieved so far»?, and added:
«They (the Israelis) are talking about the need for this solution since 30 years ago, even Sharon himself said that a Palestinian state is inevitable»…. «Sharon could continue to talk about the two-state solution for a hundred years without translating these words into action»; the thing that shows in his view, the impossibility of applying the two-state solution.
